The American actress, Katharine Ross is very famous for her performance in the films The Graduate, The Stepford Wives, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance, and many others, and she also won several awards for her works in the acting field. She was born on 29^th January in 1940 in Los Angeles, California, the U.S. Her parents are Dudley Ross and Katherine Mullen.

She completed her graduation from Las Lomas High School in 1957. She came to the acting world while she was in Santa Rosa Junior College and she also joined The Actors Workshop for three years. She appeared nude on the stage for the play, The Balcony. She made her on-screen then and her first television series was Sam Benedict in 1962.

Her other television series include Arrest and Trial, Bob Hope Presents the Chrysler Theatre, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Kraft Suspense Theatre, Mr. Novak, The Great Adventure, and others. She made her big-screen debut in 1965 with the film, Shenandoah. In 1967, she was cast in the television film, The Longest Hundred Miles.

She got fame for being cast in the comedy-drama film, The Graduate in 1967 for which she has been nominated for the Academy Award and she won her first Golden Globe Award. She was cast as a Native American woman in the western film, Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here in 1969.

In the 1980s, she appeared in several television films including Murder in Texas, Marian Rose White, Murder by Natural Cause, Wait Until Dark, Red Headed, Wrong Is Right, and many others. In the 1990s, she took semi-retirement from acting but she made her return in 2001 with the film, Donnie Darko.

In 2017, she appeared in the film, The Hero. She went through four failed marriages. In 1984, she married her fifth husband Sam Elliott with whom she has a daughter. Apart from the Golden Globe Award, she has won the British Academy Film Award, Laurel Award, Saturn Award, and others.
