She was sponsored by Dynamics Health Equipment Manufacturing Corporation. This breakthrough brought women’s bodybuilding a rush of media attention. In 1981, she lost her Ms. Olympia title but she reclaimed it in 1982. She was defeated by Dunlap in Caesar’s World Cup contest. In 1984, she finished second at the IFBB Ms. Olympia and took retirement from bodybuilding. In 1985, she has been featured in the documentary, Pumping Iron II: The Woman. She also acted in the films, Raven Hawk, Getting Personal, Aces: Iron Eagle III, etc. She has been featured in the music video of Red Hot. She has written two books o weight training for women, Flex Appeal by Rachel and Perfect Parts.

In 1979, she married John P. McLish but later they divorced. Later in 1990, she married the producer, Ron Samuels.
