Katherine McNamara is an American actress best known for her lead role as Clary Fray on the fantasy series Shadowhunters. She is also known for her role as Harper Munroe on the MTV comedy series Happyland.
Katherine Grace McNamara was born on November 22, 1995, in Kansas City, Missouri to Ursula and Evan McNamara. Her parents served in the U.S. military. She is an only child and was raised in Lee’s Summit, Missouri before moving to Los Angeles, California in 2011.

She played Becky Thatcher in Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn and was in the movies Contest and A Sort of Homecoming. The actress also acted in The Maze Runner movies:- Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, as Sonya, and reprised the role in the 2018 sequel, Maze Runner: The Death Cure.
She had a recurring role as Claire in the Disney XD series Kickin’ It, and in two episodes of the Disney Channel series Jessie, as Bryn Brietbart, Emma Ross’s rival. She also appeared in an episode of The Thundermans. She played Harper Munroe in the MTV series Happyland, a resident of the park who pursues a boy despite already having a boyfriend. She played the role of Kat on the third season of The Fosters in 2015.
She currently plays the lead character, Clary Fray in Shadowhunters, based on Cassandra Clare’s best-selling book series The Mortal Instruments. Her first original single titled “Ember,” was included in the show’s second-season finale.
