Commonly known as Emily Osment, Emily Jordan Osment was born on March 10, 1992. Her father is actor Michael Eugene Osment, and her mother is Theresa Osment. She has an older brother, Haley Joel Osment, who is an actor.
Emily’s first taste of acting was through a commercial she did for a flower delivery company in 1997. After that, she had several other ads until she had a film engagement in the movie called The Secret Life of Girls. She had other TV appearances after that. She appeared in the famous TV show, Friends, and Touched by an Angel.
Her breakthrough role came in the movie Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams when she played the character, Gerti Giggles. She won the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film for the movie, and it made a significant impact on her next projects.
In 2006, Osment became the sidekick and best friend of Miley Stewart in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. She played the role, Lilly Truscott, with the alias name of Lola Luftnagle. The premiere was a total success with 5.4 million viewers and positive reviews. While on the show, Osment also helped in designing Hannah Montana’s costumes. The show aired on Disney Channel from 2006 to 2011, having four seasons in total.
While doing the Hannah Montana show, Emily still had other film engagements, including Holidaze: The Christmas That Almost Didn’t Happen. She did a voice-over for the animated film along with Brenda Song and Dylan and Cole Sprouse.
In 2009, Osment ventured into singing and signed with Wind-Up Records. Her first album, All the Right Wrongs got released in October 2009 and had eight songs in total. Although her songs did not make an impact on the Billboard Charts, she never lost hope and kept on making songs.
Emily revealed in an interview that it was tough to get away from the Disney star shadow, and she wanted to go into mature roles when she did the TV show, Cleaners. She realized that it was difficult for her to go into more challenging and exciting projects because of her Disney background.
Her role on the TV show Mom made a turning point in Osment’s role in other projects. She made sure that she did not need to show her boobs nor her ass for her to be considered mature and out of the spotlight of Disney.
