Lillian Mickie and Robert Deal Alley welcomed Kirstie Louise Alley on January 12, 1951. Born and raised in Kansas, Kirstie attended college at the Kansas State University but was not able to finish her degree because of her dream to pursue Scientology.
After she moved to Los Angeles, Alley worked as an interior designer while pursuing her Scientology dream. Then, she competed in the TV show, Match Game in 1979, winning two rounds. Alley also appeared in the show, Password Plus the next year.
After her TV appearance, Alley decided to try out acting. She luckily landed the role, Lieutenant Saavik, from the Star Trek movie, Wrath of Khan. However, she did not reprise her role for the sequels of Star Trek, saying that she got a lower offer than the first Star Trek. So, Kirstie appeared in smaller movies like Blind Date in the coming years of her acting career.
It was in 1987 that Kirstie got a massive hit after she starred a role in the film, Summer School. Later, she got the part, Rebecca Howe, on the TV sitcom, Cheers. She then became more famous because of her role in Cheers. Later, Alley starred in another sitcom, Veronica’s Closet, and appeared for three seasons. However, when she started her TV series, Kirstie, it was a flop, not like her previous TV sitcoms.
The flop of the TV series, Kristie, harmed Kirstie’s future career opportunities. Her role in Scream Queens did not even get reprised in the third season.
Then, in 2018, Kirstie joined the celebrity edition of the 22nd season of Big Brother. She then appeared in an episode of The Golbergs.
In an interview in 2012 with Dr. Oz, Alley revealed that she had significant body issues, which started in 2003. She claimed that she was a compulsive eater and did not realize she was already gaining weight until her menopause stage. So, Kirstie began her weight loss journey until she reached a loss of 100 pounds in total in 2011. Alley then posed for covers with her new sexy figure, flaunting her weight loss success.
