She first appeared on the television in 1961 with the television series, The Untouchables. She got very famous for her role as Betty Anderson in the television series, Peyton Place to which she was attached from 1964-1969 and she has been nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance as well. She played the role of Charlotte Kent in the television mini-series, The Manions of America in 1981. In 1988, she played the role of Candace Morgan in the series, Jake and the Fatman. In 1998, she provided her voice as Mother Box in the series, Superman: The Animated Series.

She married her husband in France and in the late 1980s, she adopted her only daughter. Later, she divorced her husband.
