The Mesmerizing And Creative Black Tape Project

You may have heard of body painting and body painting artist, who uses the human body as a canvas to paint their imaginations. But how about simple adhesive tape or duct tape instead of bikini or body paint on a human body? the idea may seem a little wild and scary but it’s really creative and the results are mind-blowing. Some people may disagree with the idea, but if you can accept body paint then why not tape bikini, in both cases the models are not wearing any clothes on their bodies.

The black tape bikini trend or The Black Tape Project was started by Joel Alvarez in 2008. Joel Alvarez, the Miami designer behind the Black Tape Project, has become infamous for creating swimsuits using only his imagination and rolls of household tape.

He explains on his website, how he came up with this idea, he was working with a model when she “suggested I use electric tape for her last look…Essentially I just wrapped her in black electrical tape! Mind you she looked like two Christmas hams wrapped in rubber bands when I was done!”

For the last few years, he has been making international headlines with his incredibly risque looks conjured entirely out of black and metallic duct tape arranged very creatively and carefully.

His online fame quickly turned into the real-world success he has since showcased his work at mainstream events including New York Fashion Week and Miami Swim Week.

You can say whatever you like about the man but the fact is that his work is really complex and creative with beautiful results. Some people call him as a horny guy and some call him a modern visionary. His tape work isn’t always black the high-gleam gold and blue are breathtaking and with many more possible different colors.
