Marina and Donald Maxwell welcomed Pamela Adlon on July 9, 1966, to a lovely home in the Big Apple. Throughout her growing years, Adlon lived in both Los Angeles and New York because her father travels a lot because of his writer/producer job.
As early as nine years old, Adlon started to do voice-overs for one of her father’s best friends. Her first movie appearance was her role in the film, Grease 2, in 1984. She played the role of Dolores Rebchuck. Then, from 1983 to 1984, Adlon portrayed the role of Kelly Affinado for the TV sitcom, The Facts of Life. She also appeared as a guest star in the TV sitcom series, Night Court.
Then, in 1989, Pamela voiced over the character of Ket for the Disney version of the Japanese animated film, Kiki’s Delivery Service. She also appeared in the TV series version of Star Trek in 1989 in one of their episodes. Then, from 1992 to 2002, Pamela voiced over the characters, Dean, Sticky, Wiseguy, and Young Drew Pickles for the Nickelodeon animated series, Rugrats. She also lent her voice for the English sub of Princess Mononoke, another Japanese anime film, in 1997.
Throughout her career in the mid-90s to the 2000s, Pamela’s projects mostly consisted of voice-overs. In an interview, Pamela revealed that her voice actor jobs saved her career in Hollywood. Although she was a good actress, Pamela never really had enough movie and TV appearances, unless it was a voice job.
Most of Pamela’s TV and movie engagements in her 20s were voice-overs, and she thought that it was going to be her new career path since she had less to none personal appearances. Most of her voice jobs were for young boy characters.
Clearly, with all her successful voice over projects, Pamela got nominated and even won the Primetime Emmy Awards for her voice role on the TV sitcom, King of the Hill. Her other nominations were for Louie and Better Things. Her success in voicing over proves that one can be sexy even without revealing her boobs or ass.
Although she got famous for her voice, Pamela still had a few live-action appearances. Aside from her Grease 2 and Facts of Life appearances, Adlon also portrayed Rebecca in the romantic-comedy film, Say Anything in 1989. She also played the character, Pussycat for the comedy-mystery movie, The Adventures of Ford Fairlane
